Meet Positives Helps People Become Aware of Herpes Symptoms

Meet Positives is helping people become aware of the signs and symptoms of herpes through an article it has recently published on its website. First of all, it is important to note that people with herpes may not have any symptoms and will therefore not realize they are infected unless they are tested. It is therefore common for people to get infected with herpes but are unaware of it. And when the symptoms do appear, they manifest as mostly genital sores and mouth sores.

Jack Lombardi, founder of Meet Positives, says, “Herpes can be oral or genital. Oral herpes is less painful compared to genital herpes and it usually does not cause a person to feel sick. Oral herpes will cause sores or blisters around your mouth and lips and are commonly known as fever blisters or cold sores. There might be sores inside your mouth but this will mostly happen during the first symptoms. Cold sores may appear again after days, weeks, months or years. Though they are painful, they are harmless to kids and adults but quite dangerous to infants.”

He continues, “The most common symptoms of genital herpes include painful blisters that appear on the penis, inner thigh, vulva, butt, anus, and cervix. The following might also be experienced: burning when urinating if the urine comes into contact with the sores; difficulty urinating due to blocking of the urethra caused by sore swelling; pain near your genitals; and itching.”

If the infection is due to herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2), there may be additional symptoms. These include swollen glands under arm, throat, and pelvis area; fever; fatigue and achiness; headache; and chills. What is known as the first outbreak, first episode, or initial herpes is the first time that the blisters and other symptoms appear. The first outbreak usually occurs after two to 20 days after initial infection. For some individuals, it may even take several years before getting the first outbreak. The initial outbreak will usually last for two to four weeks. And then the symptoms will disappear but the virus is still in the body and will cause occasional outbreaks. In a number of cases, the symptoms will be preceded by certain signs, such as a burning sensation and itching around the genital area, or a tingly feeling.

While these outbreaks can be annoying and painful, it is the first outbreak that is the most intense. The succeeding outbreaks will be less frequent and less painful. After some time, some people will stop experiencing outbreaks. However, it should be noted that people who have other diseases, such as leukemia or HIV, may experience more intense and longer lasting symptoms.

Jack Lombardi explains that he founded Meet Positives to serve as an alternative to traditional dating sites to help positive singles avoid the embarrassment and shame that they usually experience when informing someone they are dating about their condition. The solution is to help them meet other positive singles with whom they can date and possibly establish a relationship with.

It is important for people to realize that people with STD can manage their condition such that they have an opportunity to live a healthy and happy life. Furthermore, positive singles need to be aware that they are not alone. There are approximately 20 million new viral infections each year, according to the CDC. The reason why Meet Positives was established is to help single people who are STD positive meet other interesting positive singles.

People who are in a similar situation are expected to understand what other positive singles are going through and will likely want to spend their time with them with the potential to establish a long term relationship. Those who register as members of Meet Positives will not just have the chance to meet someone special but they can also join a community where people share advice and tips on how to deal with their particular condition and how to develop lasting relationships.

Those who would like to learn more about herpes symptoms other information on STD may want to check out the Meet Positives website, or contact them on the telephone or through email.
