Standard Life presents "Socially responsible investing, in plain English" video

Canada NewsWire

MONTREAL, Oct. 27, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - The Standard Life Assurance Company of Canada introduces a new educational video called "Socially responsible investing, in plain English". Some people hear the words "socially responsible investing" (SRI) and picture a crunchy-granola type investor or a starry-eyed idealist. The new video produced by Standard Life shows that the truth is actually more interesting, and very different.

Standard Life knows that most people need help demystifying financial products that are, by their nature, complex. That's why the new "Socially responsible investment, in plain English" video is designed to avoid financial jargon.

Ipsos Reid survey conducted for Standard Life
According to a new Ipsos Reid survey conducted for Standard Life, awareness of socially responsible investments is low and investor education is required if the category is to reach its true potential.

Standard Life educational videos can be viewed on or on Standard Life's YouTube channel at

Notes to Editors

They provide Canadians who would like to invest in a socially responsible manner with the option of some capital protection. Standard Life is one of the few major insurers to provide socially responsible investments in segregated funds in Canada.
  • In February 2011, Standard Life introduced "How to read your group retirement statement, in plain English". This series of three videos was developed to help people better understand their group retirement statements, and to motivate them to be more involved in their retirement planning.
