Upgrades To Three Athletic Fields Underway At Ranchview High School

Ranchview High School, which opened in 2002, is undergoing renovations of their athletic facilities. Three fields which are currently natural grass are currently being converted to the Matrix Helix™ synthetic turf system. The combination soccer and football field will feature class of 2022 Hadley Murrell, finalist for USA Today Dallas Girls Soccer Player of the Year next winter. The soccer and football field are slated for completion by the first week in July, and the baseball and softball fields will both be finished by the end of September.

“Through this investment, CFBISD is creating a home field experience on campus for students throughout the District,” said Dr. John Chapman III, CFBISD’s Superintendent.

The Ranchview project is part of a larger investment by Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District in athletic facilities district-wide. Ranchview is one of four high schools who are upgrading their athletic facilities. Hellas is also currently upgrading athletic facilities at Creekview, R.L. Turner, and Newman Smith High Schools. All are scheduled to be complete this fall.

Renee Putter, Athletic Director for Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, said, “We wanted to invest in our student athletes. This multi-campus project will enable each school to cultivate a school spirit and deliver a home field advantage to virtually every student in the District.”

Student-Athletes and the entire student body will benefit from the enhanced facilities. Students participating in a range of school-sponsored and extracurricular activities will enjoy use of the new fields. The upgrades will touch Cheerleaders, Yell Leaders, Track and Field, Cross Country, Physical Education, Band, and ROTC, in addition to Softball, Baseball, Soccer, and Football players.

“Going outside for class and letting students use our fields without worrying about damage or usage will make more activities available for our students” stated Arthur Garza, P.E. Teacher and Strength Coordinator

Hellas Construction will install the advanced Matrix Helix™ synthetic turf system at Ranchview’s football/soccer field, which is the same turf used by the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. This turf system is also used by the Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, and Jacksonville Jaguars and will soon be used by the Raiders, Chargers, and Rams. CFBISD also elected to install Cushdrain® under the field, a paved-in-place pad that provides an extra layer of player protection for students. The baseball and softball fields will receive the Major Play® synthetic turf system.

Softball Coach Kyle Barrera explained, “Not having to miss practices for rain outs is huge. You can make up a game, but you can’t make up the practice time”

Aaron Ciaburri, Head Baseball Coach, said, “I can’t wait to get back for many reasons but especially to see these kids come back to use these brand new fields.“

The school’s D-Zones will be surfaced with both synthetic turf and epiQ Tracks® materials. All three fields at Ranchview High School will feature the Wolves logo and school colors.

“We were already excited to bring our team back for the next season but on this new turf field is just the cherry on top!” exclaimed Girls Soccer Coach Johnathan Hall.

Terry Smith, Ranchview High School’s Athletic Coordinator, said, “I can’t wait to see these kids come back to campus and use the brand new fields. This project will be a huge part of bringing our community together.”
