PR Newswire

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- First-of-its-kind e-commerce destination, Community Collection (www.communitycollection.com) launches today, changing the face of online shopping by connecting leading and emerging global fashion brands and charitable causes. For each item purchased through its site, Community Collection will donate 20% of the sale to one of the company's many pre-vetted charitable initiatives. Community Collection will feature an expansive selection of exclusive, limited edition product sold in rotating boutiques from more than 200 of the world's most sought-after fashion and accessory designers.

Featuring a well-curated selection of coveted brands, Community Collection is the premier retail destination that enables brands to have a charitable voice, while adding value to their bottom line.  The designer pairings debuting this week are all celebrated influencers and trend setters in the fashion sphere coupled with some of the world's most respected non-profit organizations.

Launching week 1: Adam Lippes for American Cancer Society, Alexis Bittar for Flying Kites Global, Equipment for Girls Inc., Current Elliott for Goods for Good, Alexander Wang Sunglasses for Operation Homefront, Cut 25 by Yigal Azrouel for Operation Smile, Whetherly for Operation USA and Inhabit for World Wildlife Fund.

Additional designers to be featured on Community Collection include Diane von Furstenberg, Rebecca Taylor, Marchesa, Lulu Frost, Halston, Issa, Tibi and IRO.  Additional charities include: College Access Plan, Peace Over Violence, Pencils of Promise, Heal the Bay, and Best Friends Animal Society.

"I launched Community Collection because I firmly believe that good style and goodwill should - and can - exist harmoniously," said Brooks Cook, founder and president of Community Collection. "Community Collection transforms an online purchase into an act of philanthropy, and makes the experience that much more rewarding by granting consumers transparent access to the charitable process. The site lets shoppers see the impact of their purchase, whether it's the construction of a health clinic in Africa or the preservation of a scenic coastline, replacing conspicuous consumption with compassionate consumption."

Shoppers can track the progress of the initiative their purchases benefit via a status bar on the site, and will receive an email notification when the project goal is reached, at which point they will be able to see their donation dollars at work through regular photo and status updates. The company plans to add six entirely new designers each week, allowing for constant variety in the selection and exposing shoppers to both iconic brands as well as emerging talent in the fashion world.
