(Chicago) proudly announces an $18.6M jury verdict entered today in Federal Court in Chicago in favor of his client, a 54 year old Truck Driver from Canada who was killed in the early morning hours of August 10, 2014, on I-80 in central Illinois when another tractor trailer driven by defendant Dung Nguyen, working for his own trucking company, Antioch Transport, Inc., fell asleep, crossed over into the oncoming lanes of I 80 in the dark, woke up and then drove into the oncoming lanes of travel and attempted a U-turn blocking all West Bound lanes of travel. The decedent, Alex Volkov, was operating his Tractor Trailer in the Westbound lanes and was caused to unavoidably crash into the Antioch Truck. Mr. Volkov was seriously injured and experienced significant pain and suffering prior to his death 48 minutes later while trapped in his truck following the crash. The jury rendered their verdict against not only the other driver and his company but also found against the freight broker, C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. that had placed the load with the driver because of the level of control they had over his work. The jury found the driver to be the legal agent of C.H. Robinson Worldwide making them legally responsible.”
