(PRWEB UK) 16 October 2011

The UK’s largest online retailer Plumbworld yet again give something back to the community with a bathroom donation to the North Finchley Allotment Society.

As many of you will know, Plumbworld are very keen to help out where they can in various communities, recently featuring as bathrooms supplier on TV programmes such as Cowboy Builders and also Sarah Beenys, Help! My House is Falling Down. This time was no exception when help was needed.

The North Finchley Allotment Society is located just off Summers Lane in Finchley, Greater London. The site consists of two large fields and is council owned and managed, however there is a large group of members that work on the management committee that act between the site and the council. The idea of the scheme is to get the allotment to become a ‘self-managed site’ where the group has sole responsibility for running the society.

James Hickman, Managing Director of Plumbworld said: “When Peter from the North Finchley Allotment Society got in contact with us, the only question we had to ask was how soon do you want the items? We were given a lowdown on what the project was all about and how it would benefit the surrounding community and thought it was a great opportunity to get involved.”

Recently Plumbworld has also funded a tree planting project which is funded by a carbon offset scheme that is currently running on their website.

Scott Morris, E-Commerce Manager of Plumbworld added: “The site itself was originally prone to fly tipping and the team at North Finchley were left to clean up a complete mess and transform it into something that the community would not only use, but also enjoy. Our contribution aided to the toilet block creation which is pivotal to the whole allotment project”

Plumbworld was an early pioneer of online trading, started by James and Anita Hickman in 1999 and was sold to the Grafton Group PLC in December 2006, Plumbworld now employ more than 50 people in their purpose built warehouse and offices and boast an astonishing 49 websites selling everything from Bathroom Suites and Power Tools to BBQs and Wood burning Stoves. The business has a turnover in excess of £18 million and is growing at more than 20% year on year.
