Q: What does being a Consumer Choice Award Winner mean to you? How did winning the Consumer Choice Award impact your business?
A: Commissionaires Newfoundland and Labrador has been awarded the 2020 Consumer Choice Award as the top Security Services Company in Newfoundland and Labrador for the fourth year running. Commissionaires is a provincially incorporated not-for-profit security services company with a social mandate to provide meaningful employment to veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP, and other Police and uniformed services as well as other Canadians interested in the security industry. Winning the Consumer Choice Award is a confirmation of the hard work and dedication of our employees across the Island and into Labrador.
Q: What makes your company successful?
A: Commissionaires Newfoundland and Labrador Division is a dynamic organization providing private and public sector clients with complete security solutions that integrate highly trained, experienced personnel and advanced technology with cost-effective delivery.
We pride ourselves on being responsive to our clients needs and enjoy excellent relations with all whom they serve. Commissionaires provide security and surveillance services to federal, provincial, municipal and private contracts. Our services include Static Security Guarding, Mobile Patrols, Private Investigative Services, Ink and Roll and Digital Fingerprinting, Pardons, Employee Background Checks, Financial Checks, Government of Canada Security Screening, internal and external training in a wide range of areas including Crisis Intervention Training, Marine Security Training (PWSR), Loss Prevention Officer Training, Customer Service Training, First Aid Training, as well as a large cadre of other in-house training.
Q: Name a person who has had a tremendous impact on you? How did this person impact your life?
A: Since joining Commissionaires in 2010 I have been extremely impressed with the exceptional qualities of the men and women who serve as Security Officers with Commissionaires Newfoundland and Labrador. Each and every one of them always maintain a high standard of dress and comportment, as well as demonstrate professionalism, respect and dedication. It is those qualities that make us the province's premier security provider and the most sought after security agency. We are sought after because our Commissionaires are well trained, professionally dressed and extremely knowledgeable about the security needs and duties of their individual sites.
Many of our employees have extensive military and police backgrounds and bring a blend of professionalism, discipline, and maturity not usually found in competing companies. Our clients consistently report their satisfaction with and confidence in our members on our annual client surveys. The Commissionaires brand is known throughout the country and is synonymous with professionalism and dedication to duty.
Q: What is the next priority for your business?
A:The vision of Commissionaires Newfoundland and Labrador is to be the preferred provider of professional security services in Newfoundland and Labrador provided by qualified former Canadian Forces, RCMP and other uniformed personnel along with other Canadians interested in the security industry.
Our future priorities will include focusing our attention on gaining additional market share, achieving overall lower costs, boosting our reputation with potential customers, gaining a sustainable competitive advantage, exercising technological leadership and capturing attractive growth opportunities.

What hobby would you get into if time and money were not an issue?...Veteran related volunteer organizations such as the Last Post Fund.
