The House on Dead Boy Lane by Carter Johnson – a gripping Horror Fiction Novel for Spook Seekers

Charlotte, NC - The element of horror has always been successful, with people, be it in books, celluloid or TV series. It is weird that people like to get scared, but it’s an evolutionary trait that ensured the survival of the Homo sapiens that was evolved to become their entertainment. Besides the mystery, the appeal of the supernatural has become one of humanity’s biggest preoccupations. Joining the ranks of horror novels is The House on Dead Boy Lane. Written by Carter Johnson, the novel has the scaffold of an urban legend.

Carter Johnson has authored The House on Dead Boy Lane using the backdrop of real historical facts – California isn’t where the US’ first gold rush happened. It happened in North Carolina, and this is an example of real facts used within the story of The House on Dead Boy Lane.

The novel begins in the small town of Tanner Ridge, where the residents dismiss a house called The House on Dead Boy Lane as just another old house shrouded in an urban legend. All that changed about the spooky house after a boy and the girl next door discover its horrifying secrets which could cost them their lives.

Carter Johnson’s The House on Dead Boy Lane has Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Joe Hill, Lee Child, and Clive Barker’s author influence – a book reviewer had compared it to Stephen King’s Carrie although Johnson opines that it’s closer to King’s “IT” which also involve children in the plot. "The House on Dead Boy Lane" isn’t suitable for children though, and it doesn’t have Steven Spielberg archetype horror depictions.

The House on Dead Boy Lane took Carter Johnson just six months to complete – as a trained screenwriter; Johnson got disenchanted with Hollywood's corporate culture in his mid-20s. His writer avatar was born then – he didn’t want to waste a year doing a job he found unfulfilling and not worthy of his talents.

The House on Dead Boy Lane is brutal and doesn’t hold back. It leaves a reader gutted and scarred – the right prize for a horror fiction author.

About the author
