Spike in Domestic Violence Expected, Courts Push Back Harder with Bail Imposing Higher Amounts; Experts Weigh in on the Matter

This press release was orginally distributed by SBWire

Hartford, CT -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/20/2018 -- In Connecticut, domestic violence seems to be pervasive at this time of year. With the spike in domestic violence related reports, courts are trying to curb back the problem by issuing higher bail bonds. The arrests and bail imposing higher amounts are some of the ways the local law enforcement has adopted to curtail the rising problem.

The increase of domestic violence reports may not be all bad news, advocates and police officials in Connecticut believe that the surge does not necessarily mean that there are more incidences, it also hints at the increase of awareness among people and their willingness to contact the police. Sheila, a key management figure at the Connecticut Bail Bonds Group, has been working in the field for nearly two decades, she believes that people having the courage to report domestic violence is a good omen that the problem is coming out of the shadows. The awareness coupled with the strict steps local law enforcement has been taking to provide comfort to victims are welcome changes. In 2017, the CCADV estimated that one-third of all criminal court cases involved family violence.

Law enforcement agencies and the courts are coming down harder than ever on domestic violence. Domestic violence has a much higher bail price compared to similar crimes. Filed as a misdemeanor case, a basic domestic violence bail bond is set at around $500. However, the presence of aggravating circumstances could result in a much higher bail price, traumatic experience or extreme bodily injury against the victim, the bail bond can go as high as $50,000. Furthermore, a violation of a restraining order means an additional $10,000 to 40,000.

The women run bail bonds company Connecticut Bail Bonds Group operates out of Hartford, Connecticut and has satellite offices throughout the entire state. Under the leadership of Sheila, the company offers 24/7 bail bonds services at the lowest rates serving hundreds of clients each year.
