Spectra Baby USA Joins MIT's 'Make the Breast Pump Not Suck' Hackathon

"Our Pumps Don't Suck, They Suckle."

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - April 24, 2018 - (Newswire.com)

MIT Media Lab is hosting their Breastfeeding Festival April 27 - 29, 2018. During this weekend, technologists, designers, policymakers, and companies will gather at the MIT Media Lab to create and test innovative designs that help, "make the breast pump not suck." Spectra Baby USA is among those companies that will be attending the festival to help improve breast pump technology.

Developing the breast pump has been at the forefront of Spectra Baby USA for the last several years. They have incorporated a Natural Nursing Technology which helps their pumps mimic the natural breastfeeding process. As they say at Spectra, "Our pumps don’t suck, they suckle!" Spectra pumps include a set of unique features which allows moms to experience comfortable suction and cycle levels, the elimination of back-flow, and the discreet and convenient operation that Spectra pumps are known for.

The 2018 hackathon is expected to draw hundreds of engineers, parents, designers, doctors, and doulas as well as 30 companies from around the world. Spectra Baby USA will be on the panel of judges and will honor one of the winning teams with the Information Is Power Award. The award recognizes efforts to improve information, education, and empowerment tools that help breastfeeding moms and families.

"Our team is thrilled to work with creative companies at the forefront of breastfeeding innovation," Catherine D'Ignazio, Director of Make The Breast Pump Not Suck, states. "Improving breastfeeding has to be a collaborative effort."
