Shopify and Amazon Announce New Integration Categories, Brand Registry Support

Expanded partnership allows management of Amazon listings through Shopify in seven new categories

Shopify and Amazon announced an expansion of their existing sales channel partnership, bumping up the number of product categories that can be sold on Amazon through Shopify and extending “Brand Registry” protection to items sold this way.

In early 2017, Shopify and Amazon began integration allowing Shopify items in the “Clothing and Accessories” category to be sold on Amazon through the same e-commerce dashboard. This recent expansion adds another seven categories for integration, dramatically increasing how many Shopify items can be listed.

The new categories are: Health and Household; Beauty and Personal Care; Home and Kitchen; Patio and Garden; Sewing, Arts and Crafts; Sports and Outdoors; and Toys and Games.

Additionally, users who are Brand Registered on Amazon can now submit Brand Registered listings on Shopify. This feature protects sellers by giving them full control over their product listings and eliminating the need for UPC/EAN codes.

Amazon served over 300 million customers last year. This expanded integration with Shopify represents a tremendous boost in reach for e-commerce businesses that choose to do business through Shopify’s platform.

Some analysts expect that Shopify’s strategy of working in tandem with Amazon and minimizing friction between the storefronts will continue to strengthen their hold on the e-commerce platform sector.
