Fat Daddy's, Southern Oaks Golf Club Sizzle with New Chef

Carlos Rodriguez signs on as Director of Food and Beverage for AngMar Retail Group

May 19, 2016 / PRZen / MANSFIELD, Texas -- In a fiery, fuego-infused talent grab, the AngMar retail group has signed Texas Monthly and Indulge celebrated chef Carlos Rodriguez as Director of Food and Beverages for its retail properties including Southern Oaks Golf Club, The Oaks Event Center and Fat Daddy's. The group has plans to expand its current hospitality brands and launch an additional new concept by the 1st quarter of 2017, furthering the Rodriguez reach.

"I've followed Chef Carlos since his Salsa Fuego days on the traffic circle in Fort Worth," says John Geyerman, AngMar's VP of Retail Operations. "He's a self-made food enthusiast, with high standards for service and presentation but a rogue creative flair he unleashes each time he steps into a kitchen. All of our brands will benefit from his influence."

Chef Carlos is currently reviewing and revising recipes and menus for Fat Daddy's, Southern Oaks Golf Club and inspiring new dishes for special events booked at The Oaks Event Center. He's also taking the lead on menu development for yet-to-be announced new concepts coming soon to Mansfield, Burleson and the surrounding areas.

"Food, the art of feeding people, of creating inspired dishes that create conversation- that's my passion," Chef Carlos explains. "As much as life in the kitchen makes my senses sing, the business side of having my own restaurants really forced me to spread myself thin. I was honored to be hired by AngMar and given the freedom to focus on what I do best!"

According to Fat Daddy's and Southern Oaks social media pages, Carlos is already sending a number of "secret menu" specials out of the kitchen, encouraging diners to sample new creations and give their feedback.

"It's a lot of fun," the chef says. "These two properties have very diverse audiences! I'm cooking for families and a business crowd at Fat Daddy's for lunch, while it's golfers and high-end social events at Southern Oaks. And, Fat Daddy's is a thriving live-music venue at night, so we're tinkering with a late-night menu that will be all-new as well."
