Another Lawsuit Alleges AndroGel Low Testosterone Therapy Caused Blood Clots

Banville Law has announced that another couple from South Carolina has joined the many others alleging that they have experienced damaging complications caused by use of low testosterone products. The couple is suing Abbot Laboratories and Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, claiming that the makers of AndroGel and Testim were fully aware of the risks associated with these products, but had chosen to omit fair warnings regarding these risks on the products' labels.

Just as millions of other men across the United States experience daily, the plaintiff had become concerned with the levels of his testosterone after experiencing symptoms including: muscle loss, weight gain, mood swings and irritability, frequent fatigue and decrease in sex drive.

After seeing an advertisement from the defendants, the plaintiff decided to use their products in order to help combat his symptoms. He spoke to his doctor, who, in July of 2012, prescribed him both AndroGel and Testim as a form of Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

After just one month of product use, the patient suddenly suffered from deep vein thrombosis. Fortunately, the plaintiff survived this frightening occurrence, but the incident has changed both his and his wife's lives. They continue to remain on the lookout for any signs of recurrence or additional, late-appearing complications.

Due to these difficult circumstances, the plaintiff and his wife have decided to file a lawsuit, which stated that the manufacturing companies did not fulfill their civil responsibility to warn patients about their product's potential side effects. Furthermore, it alleged that the company misrepresented the products and utilized false advertising, among other tactics. The couple passionately states that had they been better informed of the medication's blood clot injury risks, they would never have used them.

This case now joins many others in Illinois regarding product liability litigation for testosterone replacement therapy (MDL No. 2545).
