Dr. Elizabeth Callahan, the founder and medical director of SkinSmart Dermatology® in Sarasota has been tapped by IT Cosmetics® Co-Founder Jamie Kern Lima to collaborate on the development and creation of new, state-of-the-art cosmetic concepts.

In addition to collaborating with Lima, Dr. Callahan, a nationally recognized, fellowship-trained dermatological surgeon and speaker on cosmetic dermatology, recently participated in the filming of a new IT Cosmetics infomercial in Los Angeles. Dr. Callahan has appeared in national health, beauty and entertainment magazines including Fitness, Star, Redbook, Martha Stewart Living, Oprah and New Beauty. She has been ranked as one of Castle Connolly's "America's Top Doctors®" by her peers every year since 2010.

"Remaining on the cutting-edge of cosmetic dermatology means my patients are getting the very latest, yet safest treatments and technology available," said Dr. Callahan. "As a dermatological surgeon, a top cosmetic dermatological practitioner and a beauty-product advisor for Fitness Magazine I have a keen interest in discovering the best products and treatments for my patients."

"The opportunity to work with Jamie Kern Lima and IT Cosmetics in Hollywood has been an amazing experience," Dr. Callahan added. "The IT Cosmetics team, the film crew, the producer, the makeup artists and stylists were top-notch professionals."

Dr. Callahan's practice has grown from a staff of four to the current level of 30, and last year the practice engaged an additional fellowship-trained Mohs skin cancer surgeon, Dr. William Adams. SkinSmart also opened a Skin Cancer Center at its 10,000 square-foot facility at 5911 N. Honore Avenue -- across from Sarasota Memorial's Health Care Center and one traffic light from the new University Town Center mall.

SkinSmart Dermatology is the only dermatology practice from Tampa to Port Charlotte with two American College of Mohs Surgery fellowship-trained skin cancer surgeons on staff. Just 117 dermatologists in Florida have received this additional training and have been accredited as fellowship-trained Mohs skin cancer surgeons

In October, Dr. Callahan was in New York City to give a presentation on the history and advancements in cosmetic laser technology before more than 30 beauty, health, and lifestyle magazine editors attending a Tria® at-home facial rejuvenating laser event and launch. Magazines represented at the event included Cosmopolitan, Harper's Bazaar, Glamour, Brides, Allure, InStyle, Fitness, Marie Claire, MORE, People, Redbook, Lucky, Essence, Ebony and more!

Under Dr. Callahan's leadership, SkinSmart Dermatology has become one of the fastest-growing multi-specialty practices in the United States. She has earned a reputation as one of the best medical and cosmetic dermatologists and dermatologic surgeons in Florida with patients from Naples to Tampa.

Dr. Callahan received her medical degree from the University of Vermont. She served her post-graduate residency in dermatology at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
