Moovit, the world´s leading public transport app, has already quadrupled the scope of its global operations in 2014, adding more than 300 new cities this year and crossing the 10 million user threshold. The company is launching a new city every day, and one million new users join the Moovit community on a monthly basis.

The app is currently available in over 40 countries in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia, and in approximately 400 cities, including New York, Paris, London, Rome, Los Angeles, Barcelona, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Sydney and Toronto.

Last month, Moovit started to expand to Asia, and has already opened service in selected cities in South Korea, Singapore and Thailand.

As part of Moovit's global growth strategy, Alex Torres was appointed VP of Global Product Marketing based in San Francisco, CA. Prior to Moovit, Torres has worked for more than 9 years for Google Inc. where he has exercised different functions in the Project Management, Product Marketing and Product Management organizations, launching new products like Google Site Search and new Google Search Appliance versions. With the addition of Alex Torres to the company's senior management team, Moovit has recently opened a San Francisco office.

"Moovit delivers a useful solution to local transit riders everywhere it operates. Crossing this 10 million user threshold proves once again that, all public transport passengers, anywhere in the world, experience the same problems and require the same solutions. We´ve recently started to deploy the service in Asia, a huge market with a large number of metropolitan areas, and millions of travelers in need for a world class transportation app," says Nir Erez, Moovit CEO.

"With the momentum of the company's global growth, we decided to add Alex to the senior management team to set up and manage the company's headquarters in San Francisco and coordinate Moovit's global marketing plans. We are convinced that the addition of Alex to our team, with his abilities, talent and experience and with the opening of our US headquarters, will greatly contribute to achieving Moovit's global goals," added Mr Erez.
