OTTAWA, Sept. 30, 2014 /CNW/ - The Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, congratulated the National Arts Centre and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) today on reaching a new collective agreement for some 70 employees responsible for security, parking and property management at the Ottawa performing arts centre. Their previous collective agreement expired on December 31, 2011.

The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, which provides dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the Canada Labour Code.

Quick Facts

It has the mandate to operate and maintain the National Arts Centre, to develop the performing arts in the National Capital Region, and to assist the Canada Council for the Arts in the development of the performing arts elsewhere in the country.
  • Over the last 5 years, more than 94 percent of collective agreements within the federal jurisdiction were settled without a work stoppage when the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service was involved.
