PAINWeekEnd Denver: A Day of Pain Management CME You'll Use All Year

>PRWEB.COM NewswireMontclair, NJ (PRWEB) September 28, 2014

There are 116 million people in pain. There are 4,000 pain specialists. That's 29,000 patients per pain specialist. There are simply not enough pain specialists to go around. What can primary care clinicians do to meet the challenges of this growing public health issue?

Attend PAINWeekEnd Denver on Saturday, October 4, at the Denver Marriott City Center at 1701 California Street.

This year, Colorado has begun selling recreational marijuana. The state has always been ahead of the pack--decriminalizing marijuana in 1975, legalizing medical marijuana in 2000, and legalizing recreational marijuana in 2012. But now what? How will the new laws affect practitioners and their patients in pain? PAINWeekEnd Denver features new courses on medical cannabis and how to distinguish between recreational and medical use and needs.

PAINWeekEnd attendees can receive 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM as they enhance their capabilities in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of chronic pain conditions. Courses to be offered cover a broad range of pain conditions and practice considerations. Attendees will learn about chronic pain treatment side effects; documentation skills; the use of Suboxone® [buprenorphine and naloxone]; and the legal and clinical perspectives of laboratory test reports. Of special interest to PAINWeekEnd Denver, there will be 2 new courses discussing medical vs recreational use of cannabinoids and cannabis.

Chris Herndon, PharmD, said, "As a faculty participant in the PAINWeek National Conference and PAINWeekEnd Regional Conference series, I can affirm the value of the experience for primary care practitioners who are concerned with pain management. I urge area clinicians to attend PAINWeekEnd."
The PAINWeekEnd curriculum will be presented by a multidisciplinary faculty and is intended for frontline clinicians including physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and pharmacists. In addition, there will be commercially supported activities, both certified and noncertified, addressing a range of product, disease state, and medical information topics.

The online registration fee for PAINWeekEnd Conferences is $99.

PAINWeekEnd registrants are further offered the opportunity to register for the PAINWeek National Conference, September 8-12, 2015, in Las Vegas for $99 off the current online published price. Groups of 5 or more PAINWeekEnd registrants also receive one free registration to the PAINWeek National Conference.
