Clayton Kershaw Selected as the Hickok Belt(TM) Award Winner for June 2014

ROCHESTER, NY--(Marketwired - Jul 24, 2014) - Left-handed Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw has been selected as the Hickok Belt Award winner for the month of June 2014. Voting was conducted by a select panel of members of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA). Kershaw was selected based on his incredible performance throughout the month, during which he posted a 0.82 ERA and threw his first career no-hitter. He also won six games, recorded 61 strikeouts, and didn't allow a single run during the Dodger's last three games in June.

Other finalists for the month of June in order of how the NSSA voters ranked them included: Kawhi Leonard (basketball), Justin Williams (hockey), Tim Duncan (basketball), James Rodriguez (soccer), Michelle Wie (golf), Martin Kaymer (golf), Jose Abreu (baseball), Jenn Suhr (track & field), and Marcel Fassler (auto racing).

Kershaw's selection as the Hickok Belt Award winner for June 2014 recognizes him as "the best of the best" in professional sports for the month and makes him the sixth candidate eligible to receive the 2014 overall award, joining previous 2014 monthly winners Kevin Durant, Carey Price, Tuukka Rask, Bubba Watson, and Nelson Cruz.

Voting for the 2013 overall Hickok Belt Award winner is now completed. The winner will be announced in the coming weeks.
