STAMFORD, Conn., April 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Despite high ambition and tremendous talent, many women MBAs continue to run into professional roadblocks that disrupt or even derail their careers. "There are a lot of factors at play, but a common one is the under-utilization of business school as a mechanism to propel us toward our goals," says accomplished author and speaker Nicole Lindsay.
Lindsay is the author of a new book that addresses the challenges that women face in MBA programs. Released by Praeger on April 30, 2014, The MBA Slingshot for Women: Using Business School to Catapult Your Career is a powerful handbook with a systematic approach, or "slingshot," for harnessing the business school experience to accelerate professional success.
More than 100,000 women take the Graduate Management Admission Test each year. "Acceptance into an MBA program is a great accomplishment, but it's just the beginning. The MBA can serve as a launching point, but women must take full advantage to shoot to the top of the business world", says Lindsay, who earned her MBA at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, and is a former MBA admissions officer and corporate MBA recruiter, and nonprofit executive. Through her book, Lindsay offers a gender-based roadmap for women to develop the knowledge, skills and relationships to succeed in business school and beyond.
"The MBA Slingshot for Women challenges women to plan their attack on business school and squeeze every ounce of career potential out of the experience. We're sure to see more women at the top as a result," says Elissa Ellis Sangster, Executive Director of the Forte Foundation.
