Eminent Domain Attorneys Negotiate Favorable Settlements for More Than 100 Landowners Affected by Sunoco Pipeline

>PRWEB.COM Newswire

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) March 25, 2014

More than 100 cases were recently settled between Ohio landowners and Sunoco Logistics Partners, a pipeline company constructing a new underground petroleum pipeline that will transport refined oil products. The landowners who all own property in the Ohio counties of Seneca, Ashland, Wayne and Huron, turned to eminent domain attorneys William Goldman and Michael Braunstein to negotiate both easements and compensation on their behalf. All told, the Columbus-based attorneys represented landowners along some 40 miles of the pipeline.

At the heart of the negotiation was Sunoco's contention that easements that were negotiated back in 1942 were still valid and pertained to the current project since the path of the new line and the 1942 line were the same.

"As experts in this field, we knew that easements agreed upon 72 years ago have little bearing on the land today," explained Goldman. "Protecting the land now and in the future was paramount to our negotiations with Sunoco. The old easements would simply not have done that adequately."

Goldman and Braunstein successfully modified the new easements in order to effectively protect the property owners' land for decades to come. In addition, they were able to secure significantly more compensation for each client.

"It is always in the landowners' best interests to seek an expert, " Braunstein said. "A pipeline on your property will affect its value, now and in the future. Landowners deserve fair compensation; without a knowledgeable expert on their side, they don't often get it. "

Goldman and Braunstein only represent landowners. They encourage anyone who has received a request from a surveyor to inspect their property, been offered a proposed agreement, or believes they are in the path of the pipeline to contact their office for a no obligation consultation. Goldman & Braunstein will review options and recommend ways to improve and maximize results. Currently, the firm is working with property owners confronted with easement requests from Bluegrass, Spectra, PVR, and MarkWest in Belmont, Jefferson, and Columbiana Counties among others.
