Governments of Canada and Quebec Invest in Water Infrastructure in La Pocatiere

LA POCATIÈRE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Feb. 26, 2014) - Infrastructure Canada

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, and Pascal Bérubé, Minister for Tourism, Minister responsible for the Bas-Saint-Laurent region and Member of the National Assembly for Matane-Matapédia, on behalf of Sylvain Gaudreault, Minister of Municipal Affairs, Regions and Land Occupancy, Minister of Transport and Member of the National Assembly for Jonquière, are pleased to announce today that a water infrastructure project on Route 230 in La Pocatière will benefit from contributions by the governments of Canada and Quebec.

The project includes the replacement of water and wastewater mains over a distance of more than a kilometer on Route 230 in La Pocatiere. Construction is scheduled to begin this year.

  • The governments of Canada and Quebec will contribute $577,804 to the project under the federal Gas Tax Fund and Quebec's contribution (TECQ).
  • The Government of Canada's share to the project is $409,085, and the Government of Quebec's share is $168,719.
  • In addition, the City of La Pocatière is receiving a total of $1,201,308, under the federal Gas Tax Fund and Quebec's contribution (TECQ) from 2010 to 2014.
