NEW YORK, Feb. 13, 2014
NEW YORK, Feb. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Gordon Atlantic Development Corporation has successfully brought together The Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM)/Hyundai-Rotem and the St. Petersburg, Russia-based National Speed Ways, PLC to implement Europe's first urban commuter MagLev system. (KIMM)/Hyundai-Rotem successfully implemented a commuter MagLev System, the first of its kind, at South Korea's Incheon International Airport. The landmark next-generation transportation system is planned to be available for public ridership in April 2014. The proposed Russian MagLev system anchors an economic development arc in the Leningrad Region, or the suburban areas around St. Petersburg, and connects these communities with the St. Petersburg Metro System.
Gordon Atlantic Development Corporation chose the KIMM/Hyundai-Rotem system due to passenger safety certification status, and readiness of commercial implementation. Phase one will be a 17-kilometer stretch of a planned 36-kilometer system. The Leningrad MagLev System is designed to act as both Transport for London's Circle Line, as well as the Moscow Metero's Number 5, Koltsevaya (Circle) Line. Gordon Atlantic is incorporating a public art program into the proposed MagLev station system, as well as a "parkway plan" promoting "smart street" concepts, and encouraging multimodal transportation including pedestrian and cyclist opportunities.
"The MagLev system puts the Leningrad Region on the forefront of technological achievement in this class of transportation. Based on the previous success of the KIMM/Hyundai-Rotem consortium at the Incheon International Airport, makes them our ideal partners," said former Minister of Railways of the Russian Federation, and President of National Speed Ways, Mr. Anatoly Zaitsev.
"I joined William Hyatt Gordon on a delegation he lead to meet with KIMM/Hyundai-Rotem to South Korea, where I had the opportunity to ride the new MagLev system at the Incheon International Airport, and tour both organizations facilities. I was thoroughly impressed with what I saw, and the newly implemented MagLev I was able to ride. I am proud to be on the team to bring this next generation transportation system to the Leningrad Region," said Vice President of Global Relations of National Speed Ways Dr. Michael Cheloff.
"This is a revolutionary transportation system and landmark economic development arc that will provide a strong foothold for the Leningrad region for the remainder of the 21st Century," said former Olympian and Chief Operating Officer of National Speed Ways, Valentin Zanin.

The new medical center will provide the most advanced medicine available in Russia and will have partnership affiliation with a leading American hospital system. Tele-medical facilities will be featured in the new hospital building. The medical center will support a medical school, nursing school, and out patient treatments of various types from critical care to cosmetic surgery.
The remainder of the economic arc is designed to support global financial companies, as well as a resource rich digital media zone fostering the Creative Economy in Russia. The visionary economic development model is designed to be supported by the new commuter MagLev system developed by KIMM/Hyundai-Rotem that will carry at least 130,000 passengers a day.
