SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla., Feb. 11, 2014
SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla., Feb. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Recognizing the importance of empowering people with disabilities by developing and uncovering new employment opportunities, DirectEmployers Association today announced Global Disability Inclusion, LLC as its newest strategic partner. The unique firm, led by two of the nation's premiere disability employment experts, will provide guidance and expertise on disability employment and inclusion programs to the association's over 650 member companies.
Known for its OFCCP compliance solution and its ability to provide the technology necessary to amplify job visibility, DirectEmployers also works to facilitate partnerships that help meet EEO/AA goals, while providing proper information and reporting needed for job delivery requirements. The Association also assists employers with strategic recruiting, processes, and diversity initiatives represented in a global workforce.
"One of the key goals of DirectEmployers is to provide valuable resources and expertise to our membership base and we're extremely pleased to announce Global Disability Inclusion, LLC as our newest disability partner," said Shannon Offord, Manager Strategic Partnerships, DirectEmployers Association. "They bring a level of expertise and experience in working with corporations that very few firms can offer. We feel this partnership will provide an additional resource to our members who are looking to expand their disability employment programs."
In a matter of weeks, the employment landscape is set to shift dramatically as federal contractors prepare to implement new regulations set in place by the U. S. Department of Labor's (USDOL) Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP). The new changes will require federal contractors and sub-contractors to set and track goals, hire, retain, train and promote individuals with disabilities. With approximately 200,000 companies classified as federal contractors, experts say the new regulations could significantly impact nearly 600,000 people in the disability community that the USDOL estimates could enter the workforce.
"This Final Rule reflects a growing trend we're tracking among companies both here and abroad -- how to better leverage people with disabilities as customers and employees," said Deb Russell, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Global Disability Inclusion, LLC. "To be compliant and competitive, you need strong resources and expertise. DirectEmployers is one of the nation's premier associations serving federal contractors in the U.S., and we're excited to bring new tools and insight to help their members become disability confident."
