Inaugural ‘Most Responsive Employer’ Ranking Announced By StartWire

StartWire (http://www.startwire.com) has released its inaugural ranking of the Top 25 Most Responsive Employers in America. The 2013 rankings identify employers who systematically and proactively provide feedback to job seekers on their job applications. AT&T took the No. 1 spot on the list, followed closely by: Pepsi Beverages Company, Rochester General Health System, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Spirit AeroSystems. The Most Responsive Employer ranking is compiled by researchers at StartWire who analyzed the automated job application status updates provided by more than 8,000 companies.

The methodology rewards companies for both the higher number of statuses offered to jobseekers, along with the clarity and depth of information provided by the statuses. Each status update was assigned a score of A, B or C based on its quality. An ‘A’ level status is highly useful to the job seeker, providing clear information on where they stand in the application process and why. A ‘C’ level status is one that is ambiguous to the candidate, or uses industry speak not readily understood by applicants. Each grade was assigned a value, and the sum of these scores resulted in the grade for each company.

This year’s winner, AT&T, provides a large number of detailed and user-friendly status updates. They take an applicant through different steps of resume review – from ‘Resume Acknowledged’ to ‘The Hiring Manager is in the process of scheduling interviews.’ The quantity and quality of AT&T’s feedback was unique and compelling.

The feedback provided by employers is highly valuable to job seekers, giving them a positive impression of the company overall. StartWire job seeker Joe Jorge explains, "Getting no feedback puts into question the employer's ability to provide the needed support for an employee to be successful when hired.
