>PRWEB.COM Newswire

Fairview Heights, IL (PRWEB) September 21, 2013

Vatterott College announces the addition of the new Veterinary Technician program at its Fairview Heights, IL, campus, located at 110 Commercial Lane. This accredited program will prepare students with essential skills to pursue employment as veterinary technicians.

The Veterinary Technician program is designed to introduce students to the veterinarian field through comprehensive and practical experience. In the classroom, students will complete 118 total credits over 90 weeks. Courses ranging from Pharmacology to Microbiology target skills like handling and restraint of animal patients, nursing care, veterinary office procedures and more. Hands-on experience is then gained through an externship with an area veterinarian facility. Students who wish to work as an entry-level Veterinary Technician can earn an Associates of Applied Science degree after satisfactorily completing 11.5 quarter credit hour externship and meeting school graduation requirements.

“At Vatterott College, we strive to offer our students with degrees and programs that allow them to pursue employment in growing fields after graduation,” said Cody Dunlap, campus director at Vatterott College in Fairview Heights. “This new program is particularly exciting because, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of veterinary technicians is expected to grow 52% over the next ten years.”

Vatterott College in Fairview Heights is currently enrolling students for the Veterinary Technician program. Day and evening classes provide students with the flexibility to continue their education.
