Holistic Nutrition Consultant Caitlin Weeks Writes Cookbook with Husband Chef Nabil Bourmar Combining the Health Benefits of the Paleo and Mediterranean Diets

>PRWEB.COM Newswire

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 08, 2013

The basis of the Paleo diet is that people had better health before agricultural products like grains and legumes were incorporated into our diets. It’s hypothesized that there was less risk of chronic disease in Paleolithic man who were hunter/gatherers and therefore adopting that lifestyle can reduce these risk as well as inflammation in the body. The Mediterranean diet is rich in wild fish, olive oil, raw dairy, nuts, seeds, and seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Two experiences forged Weeks and her husband, Chef Nabil Bourmar’s interest in writing a Mediterranean cookbook.  The first was teaching a cooking class where the patrons were extremely enthusiastic about the food. Followed by a 3-week trip to Nabil’s home country which cemented their commitment to bring these recipes to the home cook and healthy living enthusiast.

“We thought of the cookbook because my husband is a Mediterranean Chef and I’m a Whole foods Nutritionist. We started combining the ideas of each in the kitchen, over dinner, and loved the results.” said Weeks. “I wanted to share this with everyone, especially all my followers from Grass Fed Girl. I’ve loved helping people live the Paleo lifestyle and I hope this brings new flavors and ideas into their meals.”

The husband and wife team have compiled recipes that take the senses back to days past. There is an assortment of breakfasts aimed at getting the day started right, such as grain free crepes, merguez omelets and pomegranate smoothies. The book also has snacks and appetizers such as saffron steamed mussels and creamy babaghanoush dip with crispy cilantro crackers. The book features a section of antioxidant-rich summer salads with easy to make olive oil dressings.

Mediterranean Paleo Cooking is beneficial for people who have food sensitivities because it removes the common problem foods such as corn, wheat, soy and most recipes are dairy free or dairy is optional. This cookbook also has many substitutions for carb conscious diners.

Caitlin Weeks and her husband, Professional Chef Nabil Boumrar, are known for the site Grass Fed Girl. They have developed over a 125 nutrient dense recipes, each designed to satisfy and heal the body from the inside out. Weeks also has many years of experience working as a nutrition consultant and personal trainer in San Francisco.

The Mediterranean Paleo Cooking cookbook is expected to be released in late July. For cookbook release updates please sign up at
