Thomas Fogarty Wine Estate Welcomes Second Generation; Founders Pass the Management and Step Back After Thirty-five Years
Portola Valley, Calif (PRWEB) May 02, 2013
Winery founders Dr. Thomas Fogarty and Winemaker Michael Martella announce their successors, Tom Fogarty Jr. and Nathan Kandler. Tom Jr. now runs the Thomas Fogarty Wine Estate. Winemaker Nathan Kandler, who has worked alongside Michael Martella since 2004, is in charge of production. He produces small lots of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Estate’s eight unique vineyard sites, located in the northern reaches of the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA.
Michael Martella continues as Viticulturist, developing and refining the Estate’s holistic vineyard practices. “Fogarty Wine Estate pioneered viticulture in the Skyline region,” says Michael. “We are committed to preserving this beautiful property, pursuing organic certification and fostering a ‘living-soil’ vineyard.”
Nathan has expanded the winery’s philosophy of minimal intervention in the cellar. “I find the Santa Cruz Mountains the most compelling region in California for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Our coastal climate, high elevation and thin rocky soils are unique and define our authentic site-expressive wines.”
