Canada NewsWire

TORONTO, April 30, 2013 /CNW/ - Malvin Knight and Audrey Gill of London, were overjoyed when they found that they held the winning ticket for the LOTTO 6/49 April 27, 2013 draw. Today, the couple was presented with a cheque for $17.4 million at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

Malvin 73, and Audrey 60, are regular LOTTO 6/49 players and always choose quick picks. It was during the hockey game on Saturday night that they purchased their winning ticket.

"It was the end of the first period when I suddenly realized that I had not bought our 6/49 ticket yet. So I ran out to the store with only minutes left" said Audrey. "First I checked my ticket from Wednesday night's draw and I won $5.00 so I purchased a few quick picks with the winning ticket money."

First thing Sunday morning Malvin said "I heard all of this screaming coming from the kitchen and I ran in and saw Audrey with tears in her eyes." Together they checked and rechecked the numbers then started to plan their trip to Toronto to collect their prize money.

The couple who have been together for 18 years are so excited to help their family and friends with their new found fortune. Malvin has 2 daughters, 1 son and 7 grandchildren while Audrey has 1 son and 2 grandchildren.

The winning ticket was purchased at Mac's Trafalgar on Trafalgar Street in London.
