The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to Phobia Incident on Dartford Crossing

>PRWEB.COM Newswire

(PRWEB UK) 11 April 2013

According to This Is Kent, a motorist with an extreme fear of bridges had to request a police escort through Dartford tunnel after becoming too fearful to proceed. The motorist who did not know the area had taken a wrong turn and was directed onto the bridge by his sat-nav system. After becoming extremely distressed as he approached the bridge the motorist took the decision to call the bridge control room and ask for help. The driver who suffers from gephyrophobia – a fear of bridges- was then driven as a passenger in his vehicle to the other side.

A representative for Kent Police said, ‘Our role is maintaining order and safety on the roads, so if someone is concerned, trapped or scared, it is our job to attend and help and support them wherever we can.’

Whilst some find extreme phobias hard to understand, those who suffer often find their life negatively affected and ruined as they experience high levels of anxiety and apprehension. A complementary approach that may help those who suffer with phobias is hypnotherapy. The National Council for Hypnotherapy is one of the UK’s most established hypnotherapy directory helping members of the public access local hypnotherapists in their area. All hypnotherapists are qualified to help clients with a range of issues including weight loss, stopping smoking and phobias.

A representative from the Council explained how hypnotherapy could help tackle phobias, ‘Hypnotherapy can aid the client in realigning the way they feel towards a fear and as a result help alleviate levels of anxiety and fear. Depending on the phobia different techniques can be applied including imagining the phobia as well as actually placing the client in a real life phobia situation.’

The National Council for Hypnotherapy continues to follow health related news.

NCH represents over 1800 hypnotherapy professionals within the UK and is committed to ensuring the highest possible professional standards amongst our members. Those looking for help with smoking, weight, anxiety, panic attacks, habits and phobias may be helped by local NCH accredited therapists, look for the NCH seal of approval on their websites. As one of the largest registers of independent Hypnotherapists, the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) is actively involved with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and strives to develop standards for the benefit of the profession, now and into the future.
