Washington D.c. - Staff members and members of the media have been evacuated from the White House following an intruder scaling the fence and rushing towards the building.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m eastern time. President Obama had just boarded Marine One en route to Camp David according to a Reuters report.
CBS's White House correspondent, Mark Knoller, said uniformed Secret Service officers entered the press room and ordered reporters and White House staff out of the West Wing.
Both uniformed and plain clothes officers were seen with their weapons drawn, some with automatic weapons.
According to the Daily Mail, a male subject scaled the security fence surrounding the White House and charged towards the building. Areas of the White House not evacuated are currently on lockdown.
In a video posted on Facebook by a witness, uniformed officers can be seen ordering visitors outside the security fence back to their vehicles as the intruder runs towards the White House.
The identity of the man is still unknown at this time and there are no reports indicating the intruder has been located or captured.
This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as they become available.

Ed Donovan, a spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service, has identified the intruder as 42-year-old Omar J. Gonzales.
