Police in Maine said Friday they were on the hunt for a 35-year-old registered sex offender wanted for shooting four people overnight in the northeastern US state.
Anthony Lord is considered "armed and dangerous" and is thought to have stolen a logging truck, police said, releasing two photographs of Lord taken from the Maine Sex Offenders Register.
US media said four people were shot in three different northern Maine towns -- Lee, Benedicta and Silver Ridge -- not far from the border with Canada.
The identities and condition of the victims was not immediately known.
Maine state troops appealed on the general public for tips in the search for Lord and the stolen vehicle.
