Two Israeli police stabbed in Jerusalem, Palestinian killed

-

A Palestinian stabbed two police officers outside the Old City in east Jerusalem before being shot dead by security forces, police said, in the second such attack in the same area Saturday.

The pair were in moderate condition, medics said, with a third seriously wounded after being shot by another officer attempting to take down the assailant.

The attack took place by the Damascus Gate, metres (yards) away from where a Palestinian teen stabbed two Jews before being shot dead by police earlier in the day.

Police identified the suspect as a 19-year-old Palestinian from Kafr Aqeb in east Jerusalem, the same village that was home to the teen suspected of carrying out the earlier Saturday stabbing.
