A suicide bombing inside a southern Saudi Arabian government building has left at least two confirmed dead, both of whom are believed to Al Qaeda linked militants.
According to various news reports, Saudi security forces engaged six suspected Al Qaeda terrorists along the southern border with Yemen on Friday. Three of the terrorists were killed and a fourth was captured according to an International News report. The other two terrorist suspects fled the area, taking cover in a government building near Sharora. Al-Akhabar states two members of the Saudi security forces were also killed.
Security forces were able to track the two escaped terrorists and the surrounded the building in which they took refuge, prompting the pair the detonate an explosive device. The two militants were killed. There is no word on other casualties at this time.
Al-Arabia News quotes Saudi Interior Minister Spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour a-Turki as saying:
"A security patrol came under fire from assailants, resulted in the martyrdom of its commander, which required responding to the source of fire similarly."
