On November 24, President Donald Trump tweeted that he had turned down Time Magazine's offer for the 2017 "Person of the Year" title.
Earlier today, President Trump tweeted that he received a notification from the publication. He subsequently noted that the publication, Time Magazine, called to say that they were "probably" going to name him "Man" or "Person of the Year," an accolade which he previously won last year. The president is currently taking a working vacation down in Florida at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
However, Trump added that he would have to agree to "a major photo shoot," as well as "an interview." "I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!" President Trump posted on Twitter.
In return, Time Magazine responded via a tweet on their official Twitter page about this statement, that went viral. "The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6," they posted.
Aside from President Trump who was named "Person of the Year" in 2016, other people that have won this honor include German Chancellor Angela Merkel in 2015, the Ebola fighters in 2014, as well as Pope Francis in 2013.
