Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko promoted to deputy PM

Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko, whose time in office has been tarnished by allegations of state-sponsored doping, has been promoted to deputy prime minister, Russian news agencies reported on Wednesday.

President Vladimir Putin approved Mutko's appointment to a new post of deputy prime minister in charge of sport, tourism and youth politics, RIA Novosti state news agency reported, adding that Mutko's deputy, Pavel Kolobkov, would take over as sports minister.
