article imageMunich creates 6 Urban Naked Zones for nudists to sunbath in buff

By Marcus Hondro     Apr 18, 2014 in World
If you're visiting the German city of Munich you have the choice of experiencing it naked while still in the public eye. That's because Munich city council has created 6 zones in which it's okay to strip and be nude.
The six areas in which you can be naked are almost like mini-nudist camps as each is in a parkland area. Further, for extra convenience, they're somewhat close to the city center.
There's no hiding your nudity should you choose to nude sunbath, for there are no fences around the designated areas and they are not particularly hidden away from the madding crowd. There's also no law saying that you must be nude to be there.
This is new in the country - and yet not new. There are scores of nude beaches in Germany, and in other mainland European countries, and Germany is rife with saunas that welcome nudity. More often Germany, and Europe overall, is considered to be less prudish about the naked body than in the U.K. or North America, for example.
Further, the Englischer Garten in Munich, now one of the six areas, has long been a hangout for nudists anyhow, so the country's third largest city is just providing more choices to taking your clothes off in public.
