Santa Pola - For those chocolate addicts out there, this particular treat would have been an even bigger high. A master "turronero," or nougat-maker, in Spain has been arrested for making chocolates spiked with the main ingredients of magic mushrooms and marijuana.
Not only that, the chocolates were shaped like FC Barcelona's football club crest for extra measure. The man was also involved in the distribution of cocaine and amphetamines.
The man was arrested with six other suspects (four men and two women) during a police operation to bring down a drug distribution network in the Alicante and Valencia areas of Spain.
Police also raided a lab in the coastal town of Santa Pola, where they found evidence that cocaine, marijuana and speed (amphetamines) had been prepared for sale, along with a total of 300 grams (10.5 ounces) of the drugged chocolates.
In total, police made a haul of around €21,135 ($29,147) in cash, 500 grams of cocaine, 960 grams of amphetamines, two cars, four computers and 22 mobile phones.
According to a statement by Spain's National Police, the drug network was discovered back in 2013 and in the first phase of the operation in January 2014, two arrests were made.
However, this week it was the turn of the master nugget-maker, chocolatier and FC Barcelona fan, along with six of his accomplices to be sent behind bars.
