article imageMarch Against Monsanto draws hundreds in Edmonton Special

By Paula Kirman     May 25, 2014 in World
Edmonton - May 24 was the second annual global March Against Monsanto. Marches and rallies protesting genetically modified food took place all around the globe.
In Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, an estimated 1000 protesters took to the street in the Whyte Avenue area calling for food security, an end to the death of bees, and a number of other related health and environmental issues. Speakers included a representative of the Green Party, an urban beekeeper, and the founder of a local organic food supplier, as well as a performance from The Raging Grannies.
However, the highlight of the event was the march. The 45 minute march occupied the Whyte Avenue area for blocks, with colourful signs, people in Hazmat suits and gas masks, and a large number of children.
