Ningbo - On Sunday, a father was mauled to death by three tigers at a zoo in China after he climbed into their enclosure. The man's wife and child witnessed the attack.
The man died after he went into the animals' enclosure while they were feeding at the Ningbo Younger Zoo. He was walking towards the tigers and then they bit into his head and neck.
Footage showed the man in agony as the three tigers claw and bit his body. Zookeepers used water cannons and firecrackers in an attempt to scare the animals off. However, the tigers were undeterred.
One witness said the man tried to escape from the grip of the tiger by he wasn't able to defend himself. The witness said the victim's face was covered in blood. Every time the victim sat up, he was pushed down by the tiger.
The attack lasted for about an hour, and one of the tigers was shot and killed. At one point, the man attempted to fend off one of the animals with his foot. One tiger dragged the man into the enclosure woods by his foot.
Witnesses said the man was with his wife and child when he entered the enclosure. He walked into an isolation zone and then crossed a river that separates the enclosure from visitors.
Emergency workers were able to rush the man to a hospital in Zhejiang Province. The zoo was closed later afternoon on Sunday, with police and forestry bureau arriving 15 minutes later to investigate the incident.
