London - CCTV footage caught the shocking scene of a man being kicked out of the top deck of a double-decker bus and onto the ground below.
In December of 2012, a 43 year-old man was caught on camera falling out of a double-decker bus after an altercation with another man.
The incident was made public knowledge following the airing of the footage on the BBC Two show The Route Masters: Running London's Roads last Sunday.
The driver of the bus where the incident took place had the following to say:
Passengers came running down saying 'driver, driver! Stop the bus! There's a fight upstairs!' As I'm slowing down, I look in my nearside mirror and I see a body drop. I'm thinking: what the hell's going on? I pull over and a lady comes up and tell me that someone's got kicked out of a window. I call the ambulance and police and tell them what happened. I came out the bus and saw the guy in the street - he was in a bad way. He tried to get up but he had spinal injuries and started coughing up blood.
The man survived the attack, but is paralyzed from the waist down, as he suffered from a broken back and spinal cord damage.
“He can't feel his legs, which is a life-changing experience,” the man’s sister, identified as Gillian, said during an interview on the show. “It's obviously going to be a bit hard for him.”
A 38 year-old man was charged in the assault, but was later acquitted in August of 2013.
