Solothurn - A 28-year-old man has died after leaping from the stage at a Suicidal Tendencies concert in Solothurn in Switzerland. Apparently the crowd below failed to catch him properly.
It happened at a heavy metal concert in northern Switzerland which was headlined by the American group Suicidal Tendencies.
The man got overenthusiastic and decided to stage dive into what is commonly known as a "mosh pit" below. The idea is that the people in the crowd were supposed to catch him safely, but unfortunately that isn't what happened.
Pipo Kofmehl, who runs the Kulturfabrik Kofmehl concert venue where the show was held told the media, "Unfortunately, the crowd did not catch him properly and he hit the ground."
Initially the fall didn't look too serious as the man climbed to his feet and headed off to the bathroom to wash his hands. However, security guards decided not to take chances, and took the man to the hospital for a check-up.
"Our team decided, however, that he should immediately seek hospital care," Kofmehl added.
Once in the hospital, the man had an epileptic seizure and was moved to the Bern University Hospital, where he passed away on Friday.
"This is a huge concern for us," said Kofmehl, "The whole thing is very, very tragic."
Police have since opened an investigation into the incident but said they considered the man's death to be a tragic accident.
