Michael Ferguson was hailed as a hero throughout the local Elk Grove, CA community where he lives and works as a firefighter with Sacramento Metro Fire.
A parade was put together in his honor by the older of his two daughters, a senior at Elk Grove High School, and several of her friends.
Neighbors crowded around the Sergeant Ferguson and his wife thanking the family for their service to our country. The parade included Elk Grove High School drum line and drill team followed by a Volkswagen bug convertible with Ferguson's daughters.
Metro Fire Engine #2, which Ferguson is assigned to, brought up the rear. The parade was short and traveled only three city blocks, but the line of residents of the neighborhood offering gratitude was long.
Flags flew throughout the parade route, children played in front yards, and neighbors chatted it up. It was a bright and sunny day in Elk Grove as a true American hero was welcomed back safe to his family and home.
Thank you Staff Sergeant Michael Ferguson for your service.
