IS leader targeted in Libya strike planned attacks on West: US official

-

An Islamic State leader and other jihadists targeted by a US air strike on a Libyan training camp had been planning attacks against US and other Western interests, the Pentagon said Friday.

"We took this action against (Noureddine Chouchane) and the training camp after determining that both he and the ISIL fighters at these facilities were planning external attacks on US and other Western interests in the region," Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook said without elaborating.
