Iran confirms centrifuges to be cut by two-thirds

-

Iran will slash by around two-thirds the number of centrifuges from around 19,000 to 6,104 under the deal with major powers announced Tuesday, an Iranian "fact sheet" confirmed.

This and other cuts to Iran's nuclear programme are in line with a framework accord agreed in April. Iran will stick at this number of centrifuges, which can process uranium to make nuclear fuel but also for the core of a nuclear bomb, for 10 years.

A total of 1,044 of these centrifuges will be used for other purposes than uranium enrichment.
