About two-and-a-half years after Jiah Khan‘s body was found at her apartment in Mumbai, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) confirmed Sooraj Pancholi, Khan’s then-boyfriend, to be responsible for her death.
The U.S.-born actress committed suicide on June 3, 2013, leaving behind details of her disturbed relationship with the actor. The duo had met through Facebook in 2012 and their friendship blossomed into an intimate love affair.
A suicide note recovered from Jiah’s apartment mentioned the abortion she was forced to undergo during the course of their relationship.
The CBI has charged Sooraj under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), for abettingto suicide.
India’s Hindustan Times daily quoted a CBI statement saying, “It was alleged that a 3-page note seized by the state police on 10/06/2013 was written by Ms. Jiah Khan, which narrated her intimate relationship, physical abuse and mental torture that she experienced at the hands of the said private person (Pancholi).”
Earlier Pancholi was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide and later released on bail.
According to the latest CBI disclosures, Jiah was four months pregnant and Pancholi forced her to abort the child. The attempted abortion reportedly triggered medical complications for Jiah leading to hemorrhage. Apprehensive that the media might blow the news and his acting career would fail, he extricated the fetus with his hands and dispensed it off in the toilet.
The latest developments indicates trouble for the actor who is busy gearing up for a grand Bollywood debut.
