The Edmonton Coalition on Housing and Homelessness (ECOHH) organized a rally on November 21 to proclaim housing as a right.
November 21 was a national day of action concerning housing. ECOHH joined other similar groups across the country on National Housing Day to draw attention to the need for more social housing.

The small rally featured three individuals who discussed their experiences with homelessness and how having housing has greatly improved their physical and emotional health. These speakers included a woman with multiple health issues, a man who has lived on and off the streets for decades, and a young woman who experienced homelessness as a teen and is now raising a young child.

The rally also marked the launch of a postcard campaign to be given to the Alberta Legislature expressing a need for more social housing.

ECOHH organizes other events relating to housing and homelessness, particularly the annual Homeless Memorial. The mission of ECOHH "is to promote awareness, advocate, and take action on housing issues to enhance community life." Its key messages include:
1. Decent affordable housing is essential for all people.
2. Good homes for all create strong healthy communities.
3. Housing is more than four walls and a roof-- it's homes, support, and community.
4. Lack of decent affordable housing has negative consequences for everyone.
5. In Alberta we have the resources, knowledge, and skills to make sure everyone has a decent place to call home in a strong healthy community
