G7 warns could toughen sanctions against Russia

-

G7 leaders on Monday warned Russia that they stood ready to toughen sanctions over Moscow's role in the Ukraine conflict, as escalating violence sparked fears that a ceasefire deal could be unravelling.

The leaders said they would roll back the punishing sanctions if the peace deal was implemented but "also stand ready to take further restrictive measures in order to increase cost on Russia should its actions so require", the leaders said in a summit-closing statement in Germany.
