France-bound plane evacuated in Amsterdam after ‘threats’

-

A France-bound plane was evacuated to be searched Saturday before departing Amsterdam airport after "threats" against it were posted on Twitter, Dutch police said.

"We always take threats very seriously and we decided here to evacuate the passengers and to search the aircraft," police spokesman Dennis Muller told AFP.

He did not make any links however to the deadly Paris attacks late Friday which have left at least 128 people dead.

"Threats were made against this flight in a tweet," Muller said.

He did not specify where the plane was headed in France, nor the name of the airline or what kind of threat had been made.

The Dutch news agency ANP however said it was flight AF1741 -- an Air France flight which was due to take off for Paris at 2:45 pm (13H45 GMT).

According to the website of Schipol airport in Amsterdam, flight AF1741 was now due to take off around 4:00pm (1500 GMT) more than an hour after it had originally been scheduled to leave.

Following Friday's attacks, the Netherlands has decided to tighten border controls as well as checks at its airports and railways.
