article imageExtreme video: Skywalkers scale world’s 2nd-tallest tower

Shanghai - Armed with only GoPros and DSLR cameras and wearing black hoodies and face masks, a Russian and a Ukrainian dare devil take to the skies in Shanghai, China, filming every step of their vertiginous way.
Sounds like little planning went into the daring feat. As the "Skywalkers" strolled through the Pudong district of Shanghai, one of them apparently joked, "Hey, right now we need to think how we're going to climb this thing."
Said daredevils are Vadim Makhorov and Vitaly Raskalov and in the video you can see them scaling 121 stories of steel girders on the Shanghai Tower, with stomach dropping views.
As we watch, we can see how the pair sneak into the construction site for the world’s second tallest building under the cover of night. They managed to avoid the guards as they started to scale the 2,073-foot (632-meter) structure.
The tower is made up of nine cylindrical buildings, stacked one on top of another, which curves 120 degrees from base to top in order to withstand the powerful winds that hit the city on a regular basis.
It was cloudy as they scaled the building, but they were patient and waited for the views.
"We had to wait for hours for the clouds to part but it was well worth the wait, the view was like something from an aircraft window,” Makhorov told Yahoo! News.
"As soon as we saw a gap in the clouds we climbed right to the top of the crane and were able to get some great shots of the city below."
While this is not something for the faint-hearted, and the video may be a bit difficult to watch for anyone afraid of heights, the views are quite simply amazing.
RT has published a series of amazing photos showing the lights of the Jin Mao Tower and Shanghai World Financial Center as seen by the two daredevils after the clouds cleared, but this is what they saw when they first got to the top:
