Doctor Who is to have its 2014 World Premiere at St David's Hall, in the Welsh capital, Cardiff, on Thursday, August 7, it has been announced.
The special screening will mark the start of the previously announced Doctor Who World Tour, and will give fans and critics their first opportunity to see Peter Capaldi playing the Doctor, since he took over the part from Matt Smith last December.
The St David's Hall premiere is of Deep Breath, a feature-length adventure written by Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat.
The story also features the Doctor's TARDIS travelling companion, Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman), and members of the Paternoster Gang — Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Commander Strax (Dan Starkey) and Jenny Flint (Catrin Stewart).
Of the event, as reported by Doctor Who News, BBC Wales Director Rhodri Talfan Davies said, "Doctor Who is getting even bigger and even better — and it's a real thrill that the show's fans here in Wales will be the very first to see the new Doctor at this very special premiere screening. Doctor Who has been made in Wales for almost ten years — and we're so proud of its worldwide success."
Tickets for the premiere will be made available to the members of the public from Monday July, 7, via St David’s Hall box office.
